Maneki Café

Maneki Café takes its name from the maneki-neko, the Japanese lucky cat, and carries it everywhere: a neon cat holding a drink lights up the back wall, and the same cat, tucked into a cup, is the logo stuck on every cup. It opened in early 2025 on Calzada Cuauhtémoc, in Vista Hermosa, and has 4.6 stars from 58 reviews on Google.

The space is small and well kept: a black bar with light wood, hanging plants, geometric tile and comfy armchairs. Reviewers describe it as a place that «feels different, like being outside Mexicali», with traditional coffee and an Asian touch.

What to order at Maneki

Matcha is the star of the bar, with seasonal versions announced on a chalkboard, like the Lotus Matcha Latte and the Matcha Fresa Foam (strawberry foam). There is also chai latte and specialty coffee with latte art. On the side, a case of sweet bread: fruit danishes, chocolate twists, cookies and desserts.

Pet friendly and good for working

On its Instagram it calls itself «pet & work friendly»: dogs are welcome — there are even pup cups for them — and some people come to work on their laptops. They also host workshops, like a clay one. That said, the place fills up fast, and at peak hours the music and blenders get loud: if you need to focus, bring headphones.
