Mexicali celebrates El Grito — Mexican Independence night — on the esplanade of the Plaza de los Tres Poderes in the Centro Cívico, and on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 the bill is headlined by Edén Muñoz. It is free and family-friendly: the state government pays for it and there are no tickets or presale. For twelve years he was the voice, the accordion and the songwriter of Calibre 50, writing hits for Banda MS, Julión Álvarez, Grupo Firme and Pepe Aguilar before going solo in 2021 with "Chale". ⚠️ As of August 23, 2026 the government had announced it but WITHOUT a signed contract: the state Culture Secretary said it "has not been contracted". Confirm through official channels before making plans.
