🎪 What the Isla de las Estrellas is

It is the big free stage of the Fiestas del Sol, what Mexican fairs call a Teatro del Pueblo. You pay general admission to the fairgrounds and that night's concert is included, with no separate ticket and no assigned seating.

That changes how you experience it. At the Palenque del FEX you buy to see one specific artist and sit in your zone. At the Isla you come to the fair, eat, walk the rides, and drift toward the stage when it is time. That is why the bill is far more varied: 2026 mixes Spanish-language rock, ska, cumbia, corridos, Christian worship and pop across the same two weeks.

It runs 17 nights straight, more than the palenque, because the Isla opens every day of the fair rather than only on weekends. It is by far the largest run of free concerts in Mexicali all year.

Isla de las Estrellas vs. Palenque

Isla de las Estrellas

Free with fair admission · open-air · 17 nights · no assigned seating · varied bill.

Palenque del FEX

Separate ticket on Ticketnauta · covered 360° ring · 11 nights · numbered zones · regional Mexican.

🚗 Getting there and what to expect

  • Address: FEX Fairgrounds, Calle Río Nuevo #955, col. Río Nuevo, Mexicali. You enter through the general fair gate, the same one used for the rides and pavilions.

  • Arrive early on the big nights: with no ticket and no assigned seating, spots near the stage are first come, first served. Weekends and the better-known acts fill up long before the show.

  • Parking: the FEX has plenty of it and still fills up on fair weekends. Traffic around Río Nuevo gets heavy those nights.

  • Coming from Calexico or the Imperial Valley? Check border wait times in our Mexicali border crossing guide before you cross; for a late-night return, the West (Downtown) crossing is the only one open 24 hours.

Isla de las Estrellas FAQ

Who is playing the Isla de las Estrellas in 2026?
The official lineup for the 50th edition, now complete: Edgardo Núñez (Sep 25), Amantes de Lola y Rostros Ocultos (Sep 26), Máximo Grado (Sep 27), Christine D'Clario (Sep 28), Raúl Hernández Jr. y Contacto Norte (Sep 29), DLD (Sep 30), Caloncho (Oct 1), Kurt (Oct 2), Chavalitos (Oct 3), Abbey Road (Oct 4), La Gran Familia y Los Muecas (Oct 5), Inspector (Oct 6), El Gran Silencio (Oct 7), La Original Sonora Dinamita (Oct 8), Grupo Selectivo y Banda Renovación (Oct 9), Matisse (Oct 10), Grupo Recluta y La Ventaja (Oct 11). That is 17 nights in a row, one for every day of the fair.
How much does it cost to see a show at the Isla de las Estrellas?
Nothing extra: Isla concerts are included with general admission to the Fiestas del Sol. There are no per-artist tickets, which is why these dates never show up on Ticketnauta or any other ticketing site. The only thing sold separately are the VIP areas the fair sets up on some nights.
Where is the Isla de las Estrellas?
Inside the FEX fairgrounds (Calle Río Nuevo #955, col. Río Nuevo, Mexicali), the same venue as the Fiestas del Sol. It is the fair’s open-air stage, separate from the Palenque, which is a covered ring with its own ticket.
What time do the Isla shows start?
The official 2026 poster does not list start times. In previous editions Isla shows have started around 8:00 PM, once the fair has been open for a few hours. Since there is no assigned seating, people usually arrive well before that on the busiest nights.
What is the difference between the Isla de las Estrellas and the Palenque?
The Isla is free with your fair admission, open-air, and runs 17 nights this year. The Palenque del FEX is a covered 360° ring with a separate ticket sold on Ticketnauta, running 11 nights with regional Mexican acts such as Banda MS, Grupo Firme and Julión Álvarez. Two stages at the same fairgrounds, not the same event.
Can you reserve a spot at the Isla de las Estrellas?
No. General access has no ticket and no assigned seating: you walk into the fair and head to the stage. On the biggest nights it pays to get there early if you want to be close.
Is the Isla de las Estrellas the same as the Teatro del Pueblo?
Yes. "Teatro del Pueblo" is the generic name Mexican fairs use for their free stage, and in Mexicali that stage is called Isla de las Estrellas. The official 2026 poster names it only as Isla de las Estrellas.

Looking for the whole fair — admission, rides, hours and all three stages? That is in the complete Fiestas del Sol 2026 guide. Every other concert this year is in the Mexicali concert calendar.
