About Nona & Nena
Nona & Nena is one of Mexicali's new coffee shops with the most personality: a little block-wall house with a tile roof, a cobalt-blue door, folding chairs on the sidewalk and a bougainvillea framing the entrance — the red script logo on the wall tells you you've arrived. Inside, the format is a concept store: matcha-forward (its blueberry matcha latte is the recommended gateway for matcha beginners) plus a coffee bar, in a carefully curated space that became an Instagram and TikTok favorite, where visitors rate it 10/10 and the community is growing so fast they're already preparing their own merch. It opened around 2025 in Col. Independencia Magisterial, minutes from the Independencia coffee corridor, and closes on Sundays — plan for weekdays or Saturday morning.
