Posthumous tribute at the CEART Mexicali International Gallery · Last day: Sunday, August 30, 2026
Time left before the exhibition closes
Free admission: no tickets, no presale. The exhibition closes on Sunday, August 30.
The show has been up since late May and the official Baja California culture agenda lists it "through August 30", which falls on a Sunday this year. The practical catch: neither the printed agenda nor the online listing publishes visiting hours for the International Gallery, and the third-party directories out there do not agree with each other. Before driving across town — especially on a weekend — call CEART at +52 686 553 6952 or 686 553 6955 to make sure the gallery is open.
Ale Librada Torres died in 2020 and left behind a body of work that still unsettles Mexicali in the best possible way. "No me arrepiento de nada" ("I regret nothing") is the retrospective that brings it together: photography, drawing, installation, writing and performance by an artist who used her own biography as raw material and turned the body into a place to argue about identity, spirituality and language.
This is not decorative work. As the press covering the show described it when it travelled to Hermosillo in 2023, her practice was "a call to denounce and acknowledge the violence and social stigma faced by LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV/AIDS". She did it without sloganeering: the political charge came wrapped in poetic images, which is what opens a conversation rather than closing it.
The show is curated by Abraham Palafox and Baja Californian artist Chantal Peñalosa, the same pair behind the original retrospective. In Mexicali it is installed at the CEART International Gallery and closes on Sunday, August 30, 2026, with free admission. A closing talk was held on Friday, August 21, with Elma Correa, Antonio León, Marcela Pérez and Karina Villalobos.
Details that match across the two press pieces documenting the 2023 retrospective (El Sol de Hermosillo and noro.mx). One of them adds that she also created the character DJ Perla, playing music in performance spaces; that detail comes from a single source and is cited as such.
The media that press coverage and the official listing attribute to her body of work. The exact number of pieces on display in Mexicali is not published by the state culture department, so we do not claim one.
Before reaching Mexicali, "No me arrepiento de nada" opened on June 15, 2023 at the Museo de Arte de Sonora (MUSAS) in Hermosillo, with the same curatorial selection. The Mexicali run is part of the Baja California culture department's program at CEART.
There are no tickets: the exhibition is part of the state culture department's public program at CEART and admission is free, as the official listing records. The only thing to sort out is the schedule, which is not published anywhere official. If you are bringing teenagers, keep in mind the work deals with sexuality, illness and death without euphemism: it is strong material — not something to censor, but worth knowing before you walk in.
The Centro Estatal de las Artes sits on Calzada de los Presidentes at Ciudad Victoria, in the Río Nuevo area next to the Convention Center. It is the same building that hosts workshops and concerts — Mägo de Oz plays there in November — so if you have been to a CEART event, you already know the way. The International Gallery is inside the complex; staff at the entrance will point you to the room. There is on-site parking.
Dates, venue, curators and free admission verified on August 25, 2026 against two official Baja California culture department sources: its Agenda Cultural API (event 343) and the printed Agenda Cultural for August 2026. Biographical details are cross-checked between El Sol de Hermosillo and noro.mx, both from June 2023. Visiting hours are not published by any official source and are therefore not stated here. Programming may change: confirm with CEART before visiting. Illustrative image of a gallery space, digitally generated: it does not reproduce any work by the artist or the actual installation.
