Reading Club
in Mexicali

The Snowtea Reading Club started in Mexicali with a simple idea: bring together people who love reading to share great stories. More than 7 years later, we are one of the city's most consistent book clubs, with a community that grows session after session.

We meet every two weeks at Snowtea UABC, the bubble-tea café across from the university. Entry is always free: all you need is the urge to read and chat. We read everything —classics, crime, science fiction, essays— because the next book is chosen by everyone at the end of each session.

🐭 The Tale of Despereaux

Despereaux is a tiny mouse with enormous ears who, instead of hunting for crumbs, falls in love with music, with books and with Princess Pea. For breaking the rules of mice he is banished to the castle dungeons, where a rat who dreams of light and a servant girl who dreams of a crown are waiting. Told like a story the narrator speaks straight to the reader, Kate DiCamillo's novel, illustrated by Timothy Basil Ering, won the Newbery Medal in 2004 and reads in a couple of afternoons. The club reads it in Spanish.
