The Festival de Octubre is the fall arts festival of the Baja California Culture Department. In 2026 it turns 25 with 119 activities across the state, from October 1 to November 1, featuring artists from Baja California, other Mexican states, and the United States, Colombia and Belgium.
This edition's theme is "Territorios de Paz" (Territories of Peace): beyond theaters and the State Arts Centers, the program reaches schools, markets, community centers and other spaces. In Mexicali, the biggest draws are the immersive experience "Yo soy Frida Kahlo" at CEART and the free concert by Mi Banda El Mexicano and Son Rompe Pera.
Dates, times and venues per the Baja California Cultural Agenda (checked October 5, 2026). The program may change: confirm on the official agenda before you go.

A play about disappearance, memory and the traces they leave.
A traveling "diner" where kids pick the story they want from a raffle drum: shadows, puppets and paper theater.
More than 300 digital images and video mapping on the world of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. The festival's centerpiece in Mexicali.
A concert crossing jazz, classical music, improvisation and new technologies.
The festival's big free concert: 1990s tecnocumbia plus marimba-cumbia-punk. Capacity 3,000 to 4,000.
These activities appear on the official October agenda, but the Cultural Agenda does not label them as part of the Festival de Octubre.

An up-close, sensory experience with the orchestra.
