This is not a racy comedy or a sex-ed talk: these are monologues built from the words of real women. V — the author, who used to write as Eve Ensler — interviewed more than 200 women about their bodies, desire, menstruation, childbirth, the first time, and also about the violence they had lived through, and shaped those voices into a piece that won the 1996 Obie Award for best new play and has since been translated into 45 languages.
The play ended up generating something larger than itself: in 1998 the author founded V-Day, an international movement against violence toward women and girls, funded in part by performances of this very piece. So while audiences laugh a great deal — and they do — the evening is not only entertainment.
The version coming to Mexicali is the Mexican production by Morris Gilbert and Mejor Teatro, directed by Jaime Matarredona, which has been running for more than two decades and has passed 8,000 performances: the most-performed play in the history of Mexican theater. One night only, Wednesday October 28 at seven in the evening at the Teatro del Estado.
Mexican actress and singer, known for "El Diario de Daniela" and "Cómplices al Rescate". Not her first time in this play: she joined the cast for the first time at 23.
Singer and actress, part of the original Timbiriche line-up from 1982, with a long career in musical theater.
Mexican actress and comedian, "Toña" in the series 40 y 20; she debuted on television in 2012 and also does stand-up and voice work.
🔄 The production tours with a ROTATING cast of more than twenty actresses and announces a different trio in each city. These three are the ones on the official Mexicali poster; if you are going specifically for one of them, confirm close to the date — last-minute changes happen.

Primera Fila's table with fees broken out: a 12% service charge and a 6% transaction charge are added to the ticket. The totals are what you actually pay online; at the Hotel Lucerna box office those charges may not apply the same way — ask first.
The production plays Baja California on three consecutive days, so Mexicali is not the only chance. All four performances are on sale through Primera Fila.
The Teatro del Estado sits on Boulevard López Mateos, in the Conjunto Urbano Caliss, a few blocks from the Centro Cívico. It is the same venue that hosts the ballet and musicals we list in our events guide, with its own parking and an on-site box office. A midweek 7:00 PM curtain: if you are coming from across the border, factor in rush-hour traffic and the border wait before deciding.
Date, time, venue, cast, producer and points of sale verified on August 25, 2026 across two agreeing sources: the event's official poster and the primerafila.mx sales page. Prices with fees were read from the ticket seller's table and checked by adding each row. Running time and age rating are those published by the production on its Mexico City listings and are offered as reference, not as Teatro del Estado policy. A city's cast can change: confirm with the ticket seller before buying if you are going for a particular actress.
