About the museum

Sol del Niño is a hands-on science, technology and environment museum for children. It sits at the corner of Calle Alfonso Esquer and Boulevard Adolfo López Mateos, in the Zona Industrial, a few minutes from downtown. A big sun and a small plane on the roof make it easy to spot.

A factory turned museum

It opened on September 21, 1998 in a restored mid-20th-century industrial building, the former "Jabonera del Pacífico" soap factory. At its peak it had more than 260 interactive exhibits on science, energy, water and nature, plus a dome screening room.

What it is like in 2026

It is still open, but 2026 visitor reviews describe neglect: some attractions out of service and, in one October review, no tickets on sale. A March 2026 review reported $80 MXN admission (free under age 3) and a vintage car exhibit at an extra $60 MXN. So call or check its Facebook page before you go, especially if you want to see the dome.
