Cervecería Ícono
A world of flavors and aromas · Craft beer in the 1923 building
About Cervecería Ícono
Set inside the historic Cervecería Mexicali building, founded on July 4, 1923 by Miguel González Quiroz and Heraclio Ochoa. The building was granted "Historic Merit" status during the city's centennial (2003) as heritage and a symbol of Mexicali. Here Adolf Bindher, a German brewmaster, crafted the beer that came to control 90% of the regional market. Today it is reborn with modern craft offerings that honor a century of brewing tradition. After nearly two years of renovation, Óscar "Totis" Rodríguez and Alejandro Caso opened Ícono in 2019, with 16 taps, a beer garden, artisan pizza and BBQ. Its award-winning beers —like the Rorrito, Best of Show 2022 among 1,118 entries— and the names that nod to symbols of Mexicali make Ícono a must-stop for any craft beer lover.
