The "Tribute to José José, the Prince of Song" comes to Mexicali on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 9:00 PM at Chinesca Casino, on Avenida Reforma. José José died in 2019, so this is not a concert of his: his songs are performed by José Joel — his son, billed on the poster as "the Prince's son" — Javier Montiel and Fausto Ramos, known as "The Beatleman".
José José (Mexico City, 1948 – Homestead, Florida, September 28, 2019) was one of the most beloved voices of Spanish-language romantic ballads; he died at 71. Songs such as "El Triste", "Almohada", "Gavilán o Paloma" and "La Nave del Olvido" remain among the most-played in his catalog, and they are the natural material for a night like this.
