Ramón Ayala is saying goodbye. "Historia de un Final" is the tour that closes out more than 60 years on stage for the King of the Accordion, and Friday, September 4, 2026 is Mexicali's turn: 7:00 PM at Isla de las Estrellas, inside the FEX fairgrounds. This is not just another date on the calendar — barring a change of heart, it is one of the last chances to see him play here.
At 80 he is still doing what he did in 1963, when he cut "Ya No Llores" with Cornelio Reyna as Los Relámpagos del Norte: sit down with a button accordion and sing songs the crowd already knows by heart. That duo laid down half the foundation of modern norteño; when they split in 1971 he formed Los Bravos del Norte, and with them came "Tragos Amargos", "Un Puño de Tierra", "Chaparra de Mi Amor" and the rest of a repertoire that Baja California sings back word for word.
The venue is the detail worth noting: Isla de las Estrellas is the FEX open-air stage, the same one where, during Fiestas del Sol, concerts are covered by general fair admission. Not this one. It is a separate ticketed event, and it falls three weeks before this year's fair even opens.
Tickets are on sale through Ticketnauta in two tiers: GENERAL $500 and VIP $2,000 MXN. One catch worth knowing: those are box-office prices paid in cash. Buying online adds a service cost and a transaction fee, bringing the total to $577.50 for general and $2,310.00 for VIP — and it makes no difference whether you pay by card, PayPal, OXXO Pay, SPEI, Apple Pay or Google Pay, all six charge the same. Buy only through official channels.
| Tier | Ticket | Service | Transaction | Online total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GENERAL | $500.00 | $50.00 | $27.50 | $577.50 |
| VIP | $2,000.00 | $200.00 | $110.00 | $2,310.00 |

He holds four statuettes across the Grammy and Latin Grammy academies; these are the three that can be verified one by one. The Recording Academy also lists 9 Grammy nominations for him between 1995 and 2006.
Isla de las Estrellas is the open-air stage of the FEX fairgrounds, on Río Nuevo, minutes from the Centro Cívico — the same grounds as the palenque, but a different stage. It is an open esplanade: general admission is standing, so come early if you want to be close. September nights in Mexicali still run hot, so dress light and bring water. There is parking inside the FEX; if you arrive right at showtime, the entrance line is what will cost you.
