About Asadero Acatlán de Juárez

Asadero Acatlán de Juárez is, by the numbers, the most-reviewed restaurant in Mexicali: it has 16,141 Google reviews with a 4.5 rating, far ahead of any other food business in the city.

It sits on Calzada Independencia, in the Esperanza neighborhood, in a long building with the kitchen visible through the windows and string lights hanging over the sidewalk. Google describes it without frills: "standard tacos in a functional, popular spot with picnic benches and a terrace." That is exactly the idea.

What to order at Asadero Acatlán

Their thing is the carne asada taco on a flour tortilla, big and served with beans inside, which is how you order it here. There are also orders of meat, grilled platters and tortas, and to drink, their aguas frescas —the pineapple one is among the most recommended.

But what people write about in their reviews is not the taco: it is the tray of toppings. When you order, the table fills with little bowls holding more than ten salsas, freshly made beans, grilled spring onions, blistered chiles, pickled carrots, radishes, cucumbers, red onion and limes. You build the taco your own way.

Hours, drive thru and payment

Its biggest advantage is the schedule: it is open 24 hours, seven days a week. It is the only grill in this directory that never closes, and it works for breakfast as well as for 3 AM.

It has a drive thru —spelled out on its own sign— plus dine-in, takeout and delivery. It accepts credit and debit cards and contactless payment, has free on-site parking and is wheelchair accessible (entrance, restrooms, seating and parking).

Carne Asada Taco on a Flour Tortilla
The house taco: a big flour tortilla with the meat served with beans inside.
Topping Tray
More than ten salsas, frijoles de la olla, grilled spring onions, pickles and limes. It arrives with your order.
Grilled Platters
For a big table. Along with tacos and plates, it is what their own sign advertises.

Reference prices: $100-200 MXN per person. The menu above is built from what is documented in public photos and reviews, not from their official card: ask at the counter before ordering.

Before you go

It never closes
Open 24 hours, seven days a week. It is the only grill in this guide you can reach at 4 AM —or for breakfast— and still find working.
It has a drive thru
It is spelled out on their own sign, and several reviews confirm people use it. If you are only picking up an order, you do not need to get out.
The benches are picnic-style
This is the most repeated criticism: the benches are small and not very comfortable. It is a place to eat well and fast, not to linger for three hours.

If you are looking for a clean, fast place with authentic flavor, this is a mandatory stop. When we ordered our tacos they brought us two trays loaded with toppings: more than 10 kinds of salsa, freshly made beans, grilled spring onions, pickled carrots, radishes and cucumbers. I recommend the pineapple agua fresca.

CACHO RECOMIENDA · February 2026 · Google

The place is very big, the service is very fast and friendly, the atmosphere is family-oriented, the food is simply very very good. Highly recommended; the only uncomfortable part is the benches, they are small and quite uncomfortable.

Sergio Mota · May 2026 · Google

I love the clean, cheerful, very lively yet simple atmosphere. I imagine being at a popular grill in a small town in Jalisco rather than at a sophisticated restaurant. I bring friends here so they can experience the most basic Mexican food.
