It sits on Calzada Independencia in the Centro Cívico, in a brown building with its name in script lettering, the motto "los mariscos de verdad" ("the real seafood") and a facade covered in ocean and cartoon murals.
It is one of those places people keep coming back to out of habit. Google describes it as a "simple, lively seafood spot with shrimp cocktails, oysters, ceviches and fried fish," and the reviews say the same: big portions, fair prices and fast service.
Their specialty is seafood cocktails, ordered by size: from the mini at $109 MXN and the small at $199 up to the pitcher at $1,350 and the barrilito at $4,400 for the whole table. They are made with shrimp, octopus, conch, squid, oyster, clam, pen shell or scallop, and the campechano (mixed) is the one reviewers name most.
Beyond the cocktails, the menu has ceviche tostadas (the fish one costs $129), tacos from $45 (fish, stingray, shrimp, marlin, gobernador), oysters and chocolata clams prepared or au gratin, aguachiles, stuffed güero chiles and sharing platters like the Botana Cachanilla. Among the mains, the coconut shrimp is the most recommended.
It opens early, from 9:00 AM every day, so it also works for a seafood brunch. On weekdays it closes at 7:30 PM; Friday to Sunday, at 9:00 PM.

The best thing at Laguna Azul is ordering the cocktails: I had a campechano and they are still heaped high with plenty of shrimp. I like that there is a kids’ menu, with nuggets and burgers. I recommend eating upstairs because it is quiet and the service is very good.
Delicious seafood. We had shrimp cocktails and coconut shrimp. The service was impeccable. Fast and friendly.
A nice laidback place to get some decent seafood. There’s ample parking space at the back. The restaurant is made up of two side-by-side areas; I prefer to sit in the quieter one. Portions are huge, so make sure you’re hungry. Prices are reasonable, expect $400 to $500 MXN per person.
The service and attention are very good, and the place is very comfortable. The food is the only thing lacking flavor, especially the shrimp cocktail. I had not been in a long time, and the taste is very different from before.
